Christmas Market in Hohenems

The Christmas market in Hohenems is a small traditional event in the Advent period which takes place in front of the Hohenems Palace, an elegant Renaissance building.

The square in front of the Hohenems Palace is transformed into a colourful Christkindlemarkt for just one day in December, in 2022 on 03 December.

Stallholders offer handicraft items and homemade products such as biscuits and brandies. Culinary treats are provided by local restaurateurs. Raclette buns are one of the popular Advent market dishes in western Austria. These are toasted slices of bread topped with melted raclette cheese. The organisers offer their own childcare programme for younger children and the chance to ride on the nostalgic carousel.

Hohenems Palace, one of the most important Renaissance buildings in western Austria, was once the seat of the Counts of Hohenems. Today it is privately owned. Those who want to see the inside of the building can take part in a guided tour once a week.
