Those who want to experience a real mountain Advent might want to visit the Katschberg mountain in Carinthia.

There at 1750 metres in altitude, visitors can head up a winter hiking trail to the starting point of the “Katschberger Adventweg”.

Lovingly restored hay barns line the trail, which is illuminated by lanterns. Along the way, brass bands and alphorns help get visitors in the mood for Christmas.

In the musical hut, people meet to sing Christmas carols together or listen to singers from the region.

Children are not forgotten: there is a petting zoo in one of the huts while in another younger ones can find the teddy bear workshop.

Several tea stations offer a warming experience. The specially designed Advent teacup can be purchased at the entrance to the Adventweg. It also acts as an admission ticket.

The Katschberger Adventweg is open from 27 November to 22 December 2019 on Wednesdays as well as from Friday to Sunday from 14.00 to 20.30.
