Back in the 19th century the Gastein Valley was already known for its water cures. Elegant hotels and villas were built which still exist to remind us of those days.

In the past guests from all over the world visited small health resorts. Today, there are two modern spa complexes in addition to the numerous wellness and spa hotels,

The “Alpentherme” is located very close to the valley station of the recently renovated Schlossalmbahn in Bad Hofgastein. In the indoor pools and in the outdoor thermal water lakes, bathers can relax in the soothing Gastein thermal water. The sauna village offers several saunas, including the two-storey, 600 m2 “Cascadia Sauna”.

A little further into the valley, in Bad Gastein, the comprehensively modernised “Felsentherme” (Rock Spa) with a rest and adventure spa is an excellent place to relax.

Its opening over fifty years ago as the first public thermal spa in Austria marked a crucial event in the history of the spa wellness holiday. From the swimming pools and saunas you have a panoramic view of the rocky cliffs and mountains.
