Stairway to Nowhere

Those with a head for heights can gaze 250 metres into the rocky depths from the “Dachstein Sky Walk” above Ramsau in Styria.

On the Dachstein visitors can see how it feels to look down from a steep rock face.

The viewing platform with a glass floor is one of the most spectacular in the Alpine region. It is located next to the Dachstein top lift station at an altitude of 2700 metres.

Look down at the 250-metre rock face and then let your gaze wander across to the many partly snow-white and glaciated peaks in the distance.

Those who feel like even more thrills can cross the Dachstein suspension bridge. It spans a 400-metre deep abyss and leads to the “stairway to nowhere”. There, you descend 14 narrow steps to a glass platform that towers far above a rock. From here, too, the view of mountains and valleys far below is impressive.
