Torchlit Winter Hike near Schladming

The Talbachklamm gorge near Schladming has a very special appeal in winter. Hoarfrost covers bushes and trees, while the many small streams and rivulets that flow into the sides of the gorge freeze over and form unusual icy shapes.

The light cast by flaming torches makes the frozen nature appear even more fascinating. Guided torchlight hikes are available every Thursday and Friday with the slogan “Fire and Ice” to witness this impressive natural spectacle. The two-hour torchlit tour starts at 20:00 in Schladming. Shoes with spikes or hiking boots with a non-slip tread are recommended because the path through the gorge can sometimes be icy.
