INN.ACTION – A Week of Outdoor Highlights

Last updated on April 8th, 2020 at 06:49 am

The Tiroler Oberland region is putting on an action-packed week-long event with all the sports and outdoor highlights in the area.

The varied programme of the outdoor week INN.ACTION ranges from guided bike tours, archery and climbing to water sports on the Inn. Relaxation in the fresh mountain air is also on the programme – with yoga in the woods or a wonderful sunrise followed by a mountain pasture breakfast.

Fresh trends on two wheels

Gone are the days when the mountains and peaks of Tyrol were only conquered by those wearing hiking boots. Enduro bikes, e-bikes or classic mountain bikes all offer a quicker and more adrenaline-packed way up and down the mountain.

That’s why some of the outdoor week’s programme items are dedicated to cycling. The very first day (Mon, 22 July) starts with an exciting bike tour along the 3-country Enduro Trails in Nauders.

The rapid descent over the Wildbachtrail from Fendels to Ried, including a guide, promises plenty of action. The absolute highlight of the downhill route is the 30 metre long suspension bridge over the Fendler Gorge.

On Saturday, the altitude meter gets a bashing during an e-bike tour around the Frudiger. Cycling enthusiasts who want to improve their technique can train on the INNTRACK pump track, the brand new bike fun park in Pfunds, and get tips from the professionals.

Aim high

The region’s range of sports and action offers covers experiences for all ages.

Archery on the Pfunds course is an opportunity for those interested to learn the basic techniques of the sport from experienced coaches.

Courage and skill are required in the forest rope course in Pfunds. The adventurous high tour between the trees is an ideal leisure programme for the whole family.

An ascent of the Anton-Renk via ferrata, on the other hand, is only recommended for experienced climbers. Endurance and strength is required as well as a good head for heights but participants can expect a spectacular mountain experience and a unique view followed by a stop at the Stalanzer Alm.

Using the power of water

Upstream surfing is the Tyrolean version of surfing: a combination of river surfing and wakeboarding. An underwater sail and the surfboard are attached to the bridge with ropes.

In order to surf upstream on the Inn, the natural power of the current and a simple pulley principle are used. The only prerequisite for the thrilling adventure is the ability to swim.

Further downstream, rafting and canyoning with professional guides from WhyNot Adventures and H2O Adventure is on offer for those looking for even more action.

“By trying out new trends and sports, we want to offer added value for locals and guests,” explains Bettina Thöni, board member of the Tiroler Oberland Tourist Office.

A time for relaxation and celebration

The outdoor week also offers plenty of highlights for those who like to take things a little easier.

The Zirbenwald Radurschl in Pfunds offers a unique ambience for outdoor yoga. Equally unforgettable moments are promised by the sunrise tour followed by an alpine breakfast on the Kobler Alm.

On Thursday, participants will enjoy another culinary mountain experience at the BBQ on the Gschnair Alm with live music.

At the end of the action-packed week on Sunday, 28 July, the official opening ceremony of the newly-constructed pump track INNTRACK is being held.

Participation and registration

Registration for the events can be made up to the day before the event at the information offices of the Tiroler Oberland Tourist Board – also by telephone or e-mail. Detailed information on starting times and meeting points as well as any necessary previous knowledge and age restrictions can also be obtained from the information offices or the tourist office website.
