Styria and pumpkin seed oil – a combination that is growing in popularity. The oil speciality with the characteristic nutty taste is also much more than “just” a food for the Thomann family at the Russhof.
The Thomann family farm dates back to the 18th century and is located in the centre of Mettersdorf in the southeastern region of Styria. Pumpkins have been grown here for generations. The family looks after every stage of production: from cultivation to harvesting to the finished product, the typical Styrian pumpkin seed oil.
The unmistakable dark green pumpkin seed oil is a vegetable oil made from the roasted seeds of a local variety of garden pumpkin, the Styrian oil pumpkin. It is particularly popular as a salad oil, but also tastes great with cold and hot starters, main courses and desserts.
The Thomann family offer their own pumpkin seed oil and also pumpkin seeds – natural or with vanilla and cinnamon flavouring – in their farm shop.
