The turquoise waters of the Weissensee in Carinthia make it a popular summer destination for sunbathers and swimmers.
Hardly surprising, as the water in Carinthia’s highest bathing lake – at an altitude of almost 1,000 metres – is around 24 degrees Celsius in summer.
Rather than lying in the sun, visitors who want to learn a little bit more about the Weissensee Nature Park habitat and treat themselves to some special local culinary delicacies are best advised to take part in the “Genusstour am Weissensee”. This takes place on Wednesdays until 25 August 2021, and on Fridays from 3 September to 22 October.
The day trip starts early in the morning with a raft trip across the Weissensee, followed by a hike with a nature park ranger. At the end of the day everyone gets back on the raft and can sample the famous Weissensee fish.
